Happy New Year, folks! I love a good goals post so here I am with mine! New year, new me … and all that. Just kidding, I’m going to be the same asshole in 2019 that I always have been, don’t you worry! If you want to have a giggle, take a look and my reading goals post for 2018 and you’ll see how far I’ve come graphics wise alone!
I learned a long time ago that I’m not a resolutions kind of girl. I don’t like to lock myself into anything. Goals sounds like a much friendlier and more gentle word. Semantics? Maybe. I never claimed to make sense!
Let’s get into these goals, shall we?
Reading Goals
- Complete 2019 Goodreads Challenge (40 books) – Since I didn’t make it this year, I’m keeping the same goal for 2019 in the hopes that I’ll be even more motivated. 40 is definitely a reasonable number.
- PopSugar and Modern Mrs Darcy Reading Challenges. I’ll probably dabble in others but I really want to finish these two.
- Be more diligent in keeping track of ARCs, review requests, etc.
- Keep a more organized reading journal.
- Give annotating a try!
Blog Goals
- Create a more organized social media posting schedule.
- Pre-schedule posts and actually make use of the editorial calendar! Stop posting on the fly and have a plan, dammit!
- Grow Instagram followers to 1500
- Grow Pinterest followers to 500
Finally finish Elite Blog Academy!! I always see improvements when I work on it so I need to complete it!- Improve my photography. I recently took the Create, Capture,
Conquer course on better phone photography from Ivory Mix. It has been a game changer and has taught me how to actually make use of my phone camera resulting in better photos. I want to continue to use the things I learned and I may even go through it again! - Be more involved in the bookish community and make more bloggy friends!
There are lots of other things I know that I’ll think of along the way so it may be a good idea for me to do monthly goals posts throughout the year. I’ll have a post coming up very soon with a reader questionnaire so that I can better tailor my content to what you’d like to see!
For now, my hope is that you had a safe and happy New Year’s Eve and I wish you and yours all the very best in 2019. Cheers to good books, good drinks, and good friends!
Lovely goals! I also want to work on Instagram and Pinterest this year, but then I always run into the problem that what I really like doing is writing for the blog, and doing other things takes time away from that….
OMG I feel that so hard! Which is exactly why I added them to my goals so that I would be more motivated (hopefully lol) to work on that area.
Thanks for sharing the photography class you took! I definitely could use something helpful in that department, and I love/use Ivory Mix for stock photos.
Cheers to a fabulous 2019!! Mine will be boozier than 2018 🍷🍷
It’s a great course! She does a good job of explaining how to use your phone’s native camera rather than anything super fancy which I love!
May your wine glass overflow in 2019!!
Happy New Yeaaaar! 🎉🎉🎉 I think I need to work on those goals too, I blog and post on the go 😂 scheduling/ organization should be my main goal for 2019. Wish you luck on your goals as well! 💪😎 we can do it!
Great goals and I hope you reach them this year! I always forget about Pinterest for some reason. lol
Pinterest is definitely one I want to spend more time on because it’s by far my biggest traffic driver!
Wow!! I had no idea! That’s fascinating to me.
Good luck with all of your blogging and reading goals.
Pinterest is one platform that I tend to forget about in regards to my blog. I just checked and I only have 182 followers on my board for “Fictionophile’s Favorites”. I seem to reach more people via my blog (3,076 followers) and Twitter (5,066 followers).
Do you have any hints for increasing Pinterest stats?
Pinterest brings me the most traffic by a long shot and a lot of it is totally because I use Tailwind! I can definitely do a post talking more about that. But I have just over 200 followers and my Pinterest accounts reaches over 600k views each month which is insane to me!
These are all good goals!! I’m trying to suss out what I want to accomplish for my blog in 2019, as well. Expanding my IG and Twitter reach is definitely on there, but I’m afraid to put a number to them! lol Same with Pinterest. Most of my traffic comes from there, too.
I’m the same. I don’t do resolutions, but I usually make some reading and blogging goals. More like guidelines really, since I’m not strict about them. These all sound great though! My social media posting is all over the place, maybe that should be one of my goals too, haha. P.S. If you like spreadsheets, I have one on my blog you can download to help stay organized with review copies, if you think it’ll help you with that goal! https://blog.kristenburns.com/keeping-track-of-review-copies-with-a-spreadsheet/
Thanks! I’m going to check it out!
Great goals!! I’m definitely feeling the planing post ahead of time goal. I’d like to work on that this year too.
